No woman should die giving birth

Giving birth for the first time is a daunting experience for every mother-to-be.  As the mother I am extremely grateful for the medical care I had access to during pregnancy and birth.  This is a stark contrast to places where mothers die due to easily treated conditions such as high blood pressure.

Upon meeting the founders of Maternity Worldwide and seeing the hands on involvement from volunteers and medical staff, who dedicate their free time and holidays, I knew that this is a charity we wish to support.

Maternity Worldwide works with UK medical and midwifery staff who travel to Ethiopia, Malawi and Uganda, providing information on maternal health and family planning, sourcing essential equipment for hospitals and health centres, setting up mobile clinics and training doctors and midwives to provide safe births.
